FOR THE RESPECT OF OUR PAST HEROES

Nothing can undermine the relevance of patriots in the history of Nigeria.
From inception Nigeria is a society blessed with abundant heritages ranging from human to natural endowments.

As a society that seeks to develop a common history, a common focus and a common future for the common people, irrespective of whom they are and where thy hail from.

Nigeria survived in the minds of great men and women with incredible energies. These people have survive their fathers land at different period and capacities to sustain our unity and uphold our glory and honour even when it had to cost them their dear lives.

The struggles of our past heroes are the essence of our society7 today. Their legacies and their aspiration to achieve the greatest number in the society should be part of our heritage today.

In the days of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo (1909-1987), late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balawa (1912-1966), late Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe (1904-1996), late Alhaji Sir Amodu Bello (1909-1966), late General Muritala R. Muhammed (1938-1976), etc. in the course of Nigerian leadership and patriotic individuals in their own various capacities.

We shall continue to remember them forever, but do we continue to feed their impact in our society?

This is the salient issue we have to examine in this article. In our society today we have series of records in respect of our good old days but we neglect to learn from the good old people and how they have sustained our society.

These people have championed our common origin in their legacy of truth and services. They came, they saw and they conquered even as some had to die in the course of discharging their duties.

We sure remember their days and their efforts but how do we u [hold the honour for our past heroes? Although series of rewards, project and event were held in the honour of our past heroes, while programme are periodically organized in remembrance of their contribution toward development of our society. For our past heroes who lost their lives in lieu of service whether by God or by gun amongst other means.

We might have offered befitting burial ceremonies and all sort of other honorary consolation prices for their bereaved families but we have not offered to continue the legacy they left behind. The critical reasons why they had to loose their lives to the dark forces.

We need to learn from the struggles of people like late chief Bola Ige, Late Moshood Abiola, Late Chief Funsho Williams and offers who have suffered the burnt of the dark forces. No wonder why, against the effort of good Nigerians to install true democracy for justice and equity. The dark force continues to rise.

The men of the underworld are present in everywhere just as the path to life and death in every mankind. We must be careful, to reveal all evils for the respect of our past heroes.

The path of our dear nation today is in the struggle between the good, the bad and the judiciaries in upholding justice for the common man.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln the noble hero of black man’s liberation in American. He said “all wealth piled up by the bondsman’s un-required toil shall be sunk and every drop of blood drawn by the sword”. This is why leaders who ought to know better including many of the young should disease from indecent activities. I give this for the bad people to remember.

Only free men, a man as free as their understanding allows legacies to be. Who else can make the choice of life live against death?

For present Nigerian is a in our arms, we call it our own time, the nation which innocent men and women have died to sustain. It is our duty to keep the legacy of truth and service to honour these people (our heroes) in return.

If history is indeed to end in a suicidal conflagration, it will be from habit according to Gerard Piel. In his book titled “The acceleration of history of history by Alfred A. Kopf New York 1972”.

The increase of indecent acts in Nigeria to day is a manifestation of our habits against our heritage. Some we need to be careful about how we respect our past achievers if we want to achieve our Naira bills and remember the legacy they left behind. How many Nigerians know this people their philosophies?

Could we have forgotten so soon? The critical point in Nigeria history when the nation was almost disintegrated by the civil war between OJUKWU and GOWON. We really need to comprehend the effort of patriotic Nigerians in restoring the society.

The state of Emergency and the Inhumanity, Alienation, Poverty, bribery and corrupt practices we inherited from the military leadership in Nigeria. The period of transition and the struggles of patriotic Nigerians to restore democracy is enough reason for the wise Nigerians to learn.

Because it is our world against their world in the game of chance, we underwrite the bases of the legacies of our founders for our selfish interests. This is why we have more tyrants in our world today. We really need to embrace the bases for those who know the essence of the state always anticipate the origin, the focus and the future of their beloved people.

In the word of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN. In a press review, he said “All of us can see what happens when we go back to the buses, if we protect what God had given us”. In his plan for a new Lagos he posited that there is need to reaffirm the commitments to infrastructure development, for this is the key to help to protect the legacy of Lagos. No wonder why people like Fashola could win Lagos state beyond the reasonable doubt. He embraced the legacies of the founders of Lagos and his predecessors.

Today, voters can at least comprehend what obtains amongst our leaders today, how some of them can still afford to siphon public funds after the sacred oaths, the National anthem and pledge they recite at all times.

We not exclude other Nigerians in their various endeavors. On the other hand, more is needed to command the efforts of patriotic Nigerians in: The Judiciaries, the executives, the civil society, the labour unions and other Agencies. The press media houses as well as other distinguished members of the society who take the challenge to restore sanity in our beloved society.

Nigeria is our heritage; the impact of our past heroes is the legacy of truth and service for the love of humanity. We must all come together to uphold the glory and honour of our fathers land.
