12 "Must-Know" Principles for Financial Literacy for Youth
1. Map your financial future. Take time to list your financial goals,
along with a realistic plan for achieving them. You can go places you
want to go without a roadmap. But seldom on the first try!
2. Don't expect something for nothing. Be leery of advertisements,
sales people or other sources of financial offers promising anything
free. Like non-financial opportunities, if it sounds too good to be
true, it probably is.
3. High returns equal high risks. Recognize that no one will pay you
high interest rates on a sure thing. In most cases, the higher the
interest rate offered to you, the investor, the higher the risk of
losing some, or all, of the money you invest. Diversification of
assets is the best protection against risk.
4. Know your take-home pay. Before committing to significant
expenditures, estimate how much income is likely to be available for
you. Net income, after all mandatory deductions, is more important to
estimate than gross income before deductions.
5. Compare interest rates. Obtain rate information from multiple
financial services firms to get the best value for your money.
6. Pay yourself first. Before paying bills and other financial
obligations, set aside an affordable amount each month in accounts
designated for long-range goals and unexpected emergencies.
7. Money doubles by the "Rule of 72". To determine how long it will
take your money to double, divide the interest rate into 72. For
example, an account earning 6% interest will double in twelve years
(72 divided by 6 equals 12).
8. Your credit past is your credit future. Be aware that credit
bureaus maintain credit reports, which record borrowers' histories of
repaying loans. Negative information in credit reports can affect your
ability to borrow at a later point.
9. Start saving young. Recognize that your total savings are
determined both by the interest you earn on those savings and the time
period over which you save. The sooner you start saving, the more
funds you'll be able to amass over time.
10. Stay insured. Purchase insurance to avoid being wiped out by a
financial loss, such as an illness or accident. An insurance plan
should be part of every personal financial plan.
11. Budget your money. Create an annual budget to identify expected
income and expenses, including savings. This will serve as a guide to
help you live within your income.
12. Don't borrow what you can't repay. Be a responsible borrower who
repays as promised, showing you are worthy of getting credit in the
future. Before you borrow, compare your total payment obligations with
income that you will have available to make these payments.

Personal Preparation to Speak
If we clearly understand the importance of our message, if we
understand our audience, and if we know how to make our message heard,
then we have to ask what we can do to prepare ourselves for this task.
Following are four "musts" for effective communication.
1. We must be committed to practicing what we preach. Our life is the
greatest illustration of the message most kids will see. Our life is a
living testimony to the truth and power of our message and the very
foundation of its effectiveness.
The most effective communicators I know - those who get results - are
not necessarily the most eloquent, but instead are those who believe
in their message enough to live it and deliver it with passion. I once
sat under the ministry of a very eloquent and charismatic youth
speaker. He was new to the church and well-liked. He brought many new
young people into the church. Unknown to us, his personal life was
devoid of the joy and knowledge of the Christ he spoke about. His
messages soon sounded hollow. As my friends and I discovered that his
words were empty, we were no longer moved by his eloquence.
In contrast, I once was asked to train a couple from a small farming
town to work with young people. They were a wonderful couple, but I
didn't think they had the flash and slickness that at the time I felt
was essential for effective youth ministry. (After all, you gotta be
cool to work with teenagers!) I don't think either of these people
would have defined themselves as "cool," but they were real. They had
a simple faith in Christ that was evidenced in their everyday lives.
Their faith was accompanied by an insatiable love for the kids with
whom they worked.
The result was a ministry that outshined most of us "cool" city
slickers who were training the others. No one will ever pay these
people great sums of money to come and speak, but I have met scores of
teenagers who will be eternally indebted to them because they cared
enough to minister. It was this couple's love and the example of their
faith that did what all the training and eloquence in the world can't
do. This couple practiced what they preached.
Shortly after I began to be active as a corporate speaker and
motivator, I became aware of a large sales convention in our state.
Several thousand salespeople attended this convention, and I
desperately wanted a chance to speak to this group. I thought the past
convention speakers were less than dynamic, and I knew I could do a
much better job of motivating these people to even greater sales. When
I approached the president, he was very excited about having me speak
to his group; however, as a condition I had to join the sales force.
This required a commitment of time and money I was unwilling to make.
I never was allowed to address this group. For a while I was very
bitter; however, after more thought I realized the president was
right. How could I possibly motivate people to a commitment I was
unwilling to make myself? We must practice what we preach.
2. We must be committed to being ourselves. I remember meeting a young
man who had just accepted a position as youth pastor for a large
church. As we conversed, I was impressed with his intelligence and his
genuine manner. I looked forward to hearing him speak that evening to
a large group of teenagers. His program was interesting and varied,
and I was impressed with how he took control of the meeting. When he
picked up his Bible to deliver his talk, a strange metamorphosis took
place. In front of my eyes this young pastor changed into "Billy
Graham" - his mannerisms, the way he held his Bible, the tone and
inflection of his voice, everything! The talent and control he had
demonstrated earlier were gone. Near the beginning of his devotional,
he began to lose his audience. They were polite, but it was obvious
many were no longer listening. That look of genuine interest and
rapport was gone from all but a few. Out of those who still were
showing interest, I believe many were missing the message as they
concentrated on the excellent impersonation of Billy Graham. My wife
broke my thoughts as she leaned over to whisper her amazement at the
great likeness. As I listened to the message I found it was good, but
the content was lost. It was upstaged by a great Billy Graham
impersonation.
This story is extreme, but it illustrates a point. Be yourself. Trying
to copy someone else's style or mannerisms only dilutes you. You are
the messenger. Teenagers may be amused at your likeness to some great
television preacher, but when it comes time to be touched by God's
Word or when they need personal help and counsel, kids will want to
communicate with someone who is genuine. Even when I was a child I was
irritated by the trembling preaching and praying intonation of men who
in real life could speak quite normally. As a result, I continually
run into young people who say, "I don't know how to pray." They don't
know how because they assume that to pray "correctly" one must know
how to speak in a trembling voice, arrange the words in prehistoric
sentence construction and assume a certain tone. Many of our young
people add this to their assumption that Christianity is not relevant
for today.
People who try to be like someone else communicate that they are not
pleased with themselves. There are times when an illustration or point
can be enhanced by a bit of acting. But the you kids see when you are
communicating his Word should be the same you they see in everyday
life. Use whatever techniques necessary to enhance your message, but
be yourself.
The most valuable paintings in the world are originals, not copies of
originals.
Often I see a speaker try to act like a kid in a desperate effort to
win a hearing. We live in a world where many kids fear growing older.
Much of their fear comes from seeing frustrated adults trying to be
kids. Be yourself. Teenagers need to see an adult comfortable with
being an adult. When young people seek an adult for help, they are not
going to confide in someone who is immature. They will go to someone
who has demonstrated adult wisdom and confidence.
Some adults try to act like kids, while others try to dress like kids.
Fashion is an element of communication which may seem insignificant to
us, but it is important to today's socially conscious teenager. I
asked my teenage sister, "What makes you listen to a speaker?"
Her response was, "If the guy comes out in a three-piece polyester
leisure suit, I won't hear a word he says."
We need not dress in the latest fad style in order to be heard;
likewise we should put away our Tory wigs and knickers and at least be
contemporary in our dress. We also need to be careful in our grooming.
Our message communicates a lack of concern when we appear disheveled.
If a speaker has long, dirty fingernails, people will focus only on
those fingernails! Adults need to be themselves and model the truth
that they are happy to be adults-the truth that life with Christ is
worthwhile at any age.
In order to be yourself you must know who you are. Are you generally a
happy-go-lucky, witty person who often cracks jokes and is the life of
the party? (It's okay to answer yes, you know.) Then that's you, and
you're very special. That uniqueness will show through in everything
you do. One of my good friends enjoys comedy and humor as much as I
do. He is called often to speak in rather formal situations. He
responds by being appropriately formal and serious and does very well,
but the lightness of his heart beams from everywhere - from the
twinkle in his eye to the wry humor of his illustrations. He teaches
and preaches serious messages, but he does not pretend to be a serious
person. He allows the real person to show through.
Conversely, one of the saddest (almost pitiful) speakers is the one
who has no natural sense of humor but tries to be a comedian. It's
okay to be serious. I just can't picture the Apostle Paul saying, "Hey
guys, I heard a great one today. Two Jews walked into a bar . . . "
Maybe Peter or Andrew could have done this, but not Paul. Although he
may have had a sense of humor, it would have been expressed as part of
his serious nature. He was so intense; however, I think when he did
laugh, it was a great laugh. As we will discuss later in this book, it
is possible to develop humor in your message without pretending to be
a witty comedic person. Some of the greatest youth ministers I know
are over 50 and are not especially funny people. But all of them know
who they are - they don't try to be someone else.
So many times youth leaders, pastors, and others who are required to
speak as a part of their vocation have said, "Ken, I wish I had your
sense of humor. I would love to hold the attention of an audience as
you do." The irony of this is that I often have wished I had the
skills of the great Bible teachers. At one time I wanted desperately
to be known for my serious, intellectual approach to the scripture. I
have come to realize I will never be known as a serious theologian
even though I am a student of theology. I know who I am. I will be as
intense in my quest to communicate solid theological truth as I
possibly can be, but the real me always will show through. Be
yourself.
3. We must be committed to glorifying God. One of the most beautiful
gems in the world is a diamond. Its value stems from its brilliance.
Every color of the rainbow can be seen in its sparkle. The reason for
a diamond's beautiful brilliance is that it reflects almost all the
light that comes to it. On the other hand, black absorbs almost all
light. It isn't often you find people standing around outing and hanging
over a black rock.
As a communicator, it can be very easy to absorb all the light.
Effective communication is a very powerful tool. Holding an audience
in the palm of your hand is an exhilarating and heady experience. It
is easy to absorb attention and praise in the mistaken belief that it
makes one more powerful and brilliant. In truth, our message is one of
life and light. We are lifted from the pettiness of egotism when we
reflect back adoration and praise to Jesus Christ, while at the same
time reflecting his love to our audience. When we do this, we shine
with the brilliance of a diamond!
This contrast was observed with clarity at an event that featured
several Christian music groups. These groups had received celebrity
status in some Christian circles. When the event was over, the adoring
crowd of teenagers rushed the stage for autographs. One young
performer, by his actions and words, made it plain that he felt he was
worthy of the kids' praise. He told them he was tired from the "gig"
and could only grant a short time for autographs. This young man's ego
was so outrageous he succeeded in turning off some of his own
admirers. I heard one teenager comment, "I guess he's his own best
fan."
On the opposite side of the stage was another group signing
autographs. Rather than promoting the "aren't we great" attitude, they
were using their popularity to minister to kids. One group member sat
for 15 minutes with a paraplegic teenager who had been wheeled up to
get an autograph. Another group member sat cross-legged on the floor
dealing with the spiritual struggles of a searching teenager. These
performers were vulnerable and caring; the contrast between the two
groups was obvious to many who attended. Reflect the light.
4. We must be committed to excellence. If we truly believe ours is the
greatest message in the world, and if we are convinced that the young
people to whom we minister need to hear that message, then we must
strive for excellence in all we do. If we are representatives of the
King of Kings and Lord of Lords and if we believe our audience is in
need of his redemptive love and grace, then we must strive for
perfection.
I'm reminded that youth work is more of a calling than it is a
profession. Even though we are responsible for being the best we can
be, it is God's blessing that brings fruit from our ministry. Moses
stuttered and spoke poorly; Paul admitted he was not eloquent. In
fact, Paul was so boring his speaking once killed a man. A young
person named Eutychus was sitting on a windowsill listening to Paul
speak. Eutychus "sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer;
and being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was
taken up dead" (Acts 20:9). Now that is boring! But God bypassed
eloquent speakers and chose Moses (instead of silver-tongued Aaron) to
lead his people from bondage, and he chose Paul to be one of his
greatest apostles.
I am always amazed on those nights when I feel I have blundered
through the evening with snowmobile boots in my mouth, and God chooses
those very evenings to do his greatest work. Perhaps one of the steps
to success as a communicator is to never forget: It is God's work.
Other than your good taste in authors, I only can assume you purchased
this book because you want to strive for excellence in the
proclamation of God's Word. In that endeavor, we are of kindred heart.
Over the past 20 years, God has blessed me with a fruitful ministry to
thousands of youth and adults. I also have been privileged to observe
and train hundreds of youth workers from around the world. I want to
pass on to you whatever insight and knowledge has come from my
experience, that together we might continue in excellence toward our
common goal of bringing the transforming power of Christ's love to the
receptive hearts of young people everywhere.

Qualities of a Good Leader

SWOT is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. It is a planning tool used to understand the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a business. It involves specifying the objective of the business or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are supportive or unfavourable to achieving that objective. SWOT is often used as part of a strategic planning process.
What makes SWOT particularly powerful is that, with a little thought, it can help you uncover opportunities that you are well placed to exploit. And by understanding the weaknesses of your business, you can manage and eliminate threats that would otherwise catch you unawares.
More than this, by looking at yourself and your competitors using the SWOT framework, you can start to craft a strategy that helps you distinguish yourself from your competitors, so that you can compete successfully in your market.
A strength may be something that the enterprise does well, or an asset, skill, or network of contacts employed. In addition, strengths can be anything that is "going well" for the enterprise, including core competencies.
A weakness is the opposite of strength, something that is not performed as well as necessary or that is not going well, at all. It may be something which is lacking or missing from the organization.
An opportunity is an identified chance to exploit a strength and to pursue a strategy to benefit the performance of the enterprise.

What are people in your market likely to see as weaknesses?

Will developments in technology change this market beyond our ability to adapt?
A small change in focus of a large competitor might wipe out any market position we achieve.
The consultancy may therefore decide to specialize in rapid response, good value services to local businesses. Marketing would be in selected local publications, to get the greatest possible market presence for a set advertising budget. The consultancy should keep up-to-date with changes in technology where possible.

What Are Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Key Performance Indicators also known as Key Success Indicators (KSI), help an organization define and measure progress toward organizational goals.
Once an organization has analyzed its mission, identified all its stakeholders, and defined its goals, it needs a way to measure progress toward those goals. Key Performance Indicators are those measurements.
Key Performance Indicators are quantifiable measurements, agreed to beforehand, that reflect the critical success factors of an organization. They will differ depending on the organization. A business may have as one of its Key Performance Indicators the percentage of its income that comes from return customers. A school may focus its Key Performance Indicators on graduation rates of its students.
A Customer Service Department may have as one of its Key Performance Indicators, in line with overall company KPIs, percentage of customer calls answered in the first minute. A Key Performance Indicator for a social service organization might be number of clients assisted during the year.
Whatever Key Performance Indicators are selected, they must reflect the organization's goals, they must be key to its success, and they must be quantifiable (measurable). Key Performance Indicators usually are long-term considerations. The definition of what they are and how they are measured do not change often. The goals for a particular Key Performance Indicator may change as the organization's goals change, or as it gets closer to achieving a goal.
Key Performance Indicators Reflect the Organizational Goals
An organization that has as one of its goals "to be the most profitable company in our industry" will have Key Performance Indicators that measure profit and related fiscal measures. "Pre-tax Profit" and "Shareholder Equity" will be among them. However, "Percent of Profit Contributed to Community Causes" probably will not be one of its Key Performance Indicators. On the other hand, a school is not concerned with making a profit, so its Key Performance Indicators will be different. KPIs like "Graduation Rate" and "Success In Finding Employment After Graduation", though different, accurately reflect the schools mission and goals.
MSSN for example, might have KPI for his camping programmes. Indicators such as number of new comers, number of officials on day one, percentage increase in number of participants as compare to the last edition.
Key Performance Indicators Must Be Quantifiable
If a Key Performance Indicator is going to be of any value, there must be a way to accurately define and measure it. "Generate More Repeat Customers" is useless as a KPI without some way to distinguish between new and repeat customers. "Be The Most Popular Company" won't work as a KPI because there is no way to measure the company's popularity or compare it to others.
It is also important to define the Key Performance Indicators and stay with the same definition from year to year. For a KPI of "Increase Sales", you need to address considerations like whether to measure by units sold or by dollar value of sales. Will returns be deducted from sales in the month of the sale or the month of the return? Will sales be recorded for the KPI at list price or at the actual sales price?
You also need to set targets for each Key Performance Indicator. A company goal to be the employer of choice might include a KPI of "Turnover Rate". After the Key Performance Indicator has been defined as "the number of voluntary resignations and terminations for performance, divided by the total number of employees at the beginning of the period" and a way to measure it has been set up by collecting the information in an HRIS, the target has to be established. "Reduce turnover by five percent per year" is a clear target that everyone will understand and be able to take specific action to accomplish.
Success Indicators (KSI), help an organization define and measure progress toward organizational goals.

What does the future holds
The youth should request from themselves that 12 year from, where would I be professionally, personally/individual, academically etc.
Nigeria needs youths to take charge of their lives and be leadership conscious, but before then we need to understand what it entails to occupy the position of a leader.

A leader needs to summon courage, be committed, have the ability to communicate, ensure his integrity and have a solid foundation.
The youths need to stay focus and refuse o be misinformed, misguided, misled and confused but rather should seek appropriate guidance from those who have exemplary position and had left legacy behind in whatever field we so desire.
The youths should ask themselves that, what can I do, that has to do with craftsmanship and more of technical skills. The youths should do things with their hands to have a better future.
The youths should redefine the activities they engage in presently and thought of whether to be an apprentice, lean news technical skills. All these is as a result of the future challenges which is in need of more technical skills than any other skills, which will also enable Nigeria to be a more productive country.
Some may wonder why all this talk, it is due to information that was revealed secretly that Dangote will soon be recruiting 5000 Chinese to work in a factory about to set up due to the fact that Nigerians do not possess the skills and the consequence of this is that there will be more unemployment due to our negligence of acquiring technical skills.
The youths need to focus on the future, find and secure the future. The youths should re-engage themselves with something that will add value to them to get to their future.
The youths should communicate to people to join hand with them to change things around them.

Be a positive thinker. A great thinker is a great achiever, a great achiever is a great reader and a great reader is a great leader.
The world of youths is full of opportunities to explore and yearning for a youth who will dare to be different despite all odds.
For an individual to dare to be different, he/she must identify an area which he or she intend to dare, such area includes Business, Politics and Engineering to mention but a few.
We have various people of the country playing vital role to the growth of these sectors to the extent that they are a household name in the sector or industry they belong.
Aliko Dangote is one person who Dared to be different against all odds. Dangote, a household name in the manufacturing sector was ranked the No 1 richest man in Nigeria, and about 334th in the world. This is neither by chance nor circumstance but through a dedicated attitude with intention to be different.
Aliko Dangote dared to be different by getting a loan of N500,000 from his uncle to start up something, with that he laid a focus of achieving and becoming a catalyst in the manufacturing industry which manifest, every Nigerian attest to today.
Dangote “a household name” in Nigeria of today has taken the lead in the manufacturing industry to the extent that the last time he sold shares to the public, he refunded money back to subscribers with interest, attesting to the fact that Nigerians believe in him, that made them to over subscribe for its public offer.
I put it to the youths and Nigerians as a challenge to dare to be different in doing something that will move the economy of the nation forward.
Having talked about economy while using Dangote as one of the key players, it is no excuse not to talk about politics which moves the economy of any nation forward.
A cursory look at history reveal that politics in Nigeria can not be discussed without mentioning Chief M. K. O Abiola who has played an important role in opening Nigerians eyes to what true democracy ought to be.
The June 12, 1993 Election is a very good example and has proved Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola to be a personalities in the history of democracy who dared to be different rather than compromise.
Chief M. K. O. Abiola dared to be different to the extent that he was jailed till he died. For Nigerian youth to know the gravity of how he dared, it was in this process that he lost his wife, Chief (Mrs) Kudirat Abiola, before he himself finally died. May their souls rest in perfect peace. (Please let observe a one minute silence for the great democrats)
I urge our youths and politicians (prospecting) to follow the footsteps of this great democrat (chief M. K. O. Abiola).
It is in my opinion that quality leadership can not be left out in this issue and as such is an important virtue that every youth must pursue.
I wish to also emphasis that leadership is a determinant of key players in any sector of the economy.
Please hold on to this column as we will unleash more prominent personalities in subsequent editions of “Dare to be Different”.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves whom am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do same.
This was a text I received from a friend and it prompt to actually know that every youth has the above qualities which can make him/her to dare to be different because as he/she let the light shines, he/she has given others challenge unconsciously to make them dare.
The youths need to dare great things because successful children are raised not born.
For any youth to make a different, he must believe in itself that he can do better than he his doing presently by taking to the rules.
The rules includes but not limited to:
Vision : It means setting goals for yourself, trying to picture your future, identifying where you want to be, watch word, setting target with time limit, what your intend to achieve.
Focus: Talking about being focus it means not allowing anything to derail you from target. Refusing to listing to side attractions, refuse to be confused, refuse to be intimidated, refuse to be influenced negatively, following the Yoruba adage which says “you don’t listen to the noise in the market rather you mind your business”.
Determination: I mean direction to a certain end, resolution, fixedness of purpose, decision of character and ability to overcome challenges which keeps you moving on the road to success.
Hard Work and Honest: You need to work and be honesty with your work to be able to attain greater height. Hard work entails determination to succeed, dedication towards your set goals and honesty means to be truthful, straightforward, uprightness and diligency.
Innovative: When we talk about innovative we mean you need to love to create things that have never been created before, do things that are beneficial that has never been done before, introducing an idea no has ever thought before. Innovation will not just come by mere words but by a critical research, hard work, dedication, determination, focus and honesty.
Dynamic: You need to be dynamic in your approach like an entrepreneur who leverage on other people. You need not to be stagnant and reluctant. Excuse procrastination because it’s your bad enemy which delays success and sometime does not allow destiny to play its role.
Take charge today and try to influence your environment positive. Make a different that will bring positive reference to you. Rule the game.

The Rules Have Changed!
Face it, the rules have changed! Because only those who can adapt will smile.
Nigeria is a blessed country with natural God given endowment, but is very pathetic seeing young Nigerians refuse to engage themselves in an activities that make them contribute to the growth of the country, rather they chose to do otherwise by doing all sort of things which has painted Nigeria black in the eyes of the world.
Many youths have refused to change their old ways of doing things because they don't believe in themselves. They don't believe they can do better than their present situation by mere understanding, what they want and try to seek information on how to accomplish their desire.
Many youths today refuse to challenge themselves by channeling their minds towards a future but kept on spreading the virus that Nigeria can not be a country we all desire. Even the older ones who possess the better financial capability engages in cash flight instead of investing such money in the country to create more employment opportunities for our upcoming generation.
Nigerians youth should not cultivate the habit of participating in those vices going on in their environment and country as a whole rather they should engage in activities that will boost the economy of Nigeria.
If the youths could recall in November 2007 when the 2008 budget was first presented by President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, the Director of Covenant University said that the amount allocated to Educational Sector was equal to the amount his school intend to spend.
The picture I want us to present is that the budget allocated to Nigeria educational sector which includes Universities, polytechnics, college of education, secondary and primary schools is equal to the amount one private university has budgeted to spend in improving the education standard of its system.
What is the implication of this ?
One can deduce that this years budget has no plan for Nigerian youth owing to their failure in making adequate provision for them in terms of educational development.
The youths should drop the old thinking by believing that nothing would work in Nigerian and take the new thinking because the rules have changed!
The only thing in Nigeria is to get the right idea and be smart, the smart people (youth) start immediately and chose between the tiny and the autobahn, because leadership start today.
It is also pathetic that a graduate in any Nigerian universities who have undergone one computer course or the other during his/her course of study would still not be able to operate a computer conveniently except for the purpose of checking mails.
The youths of today must quit giving excuses or waiting to start and look for people who have strength in their own weakness because the rules have changed.

Resolution
Another year is here ! aren't you happy to be alive, some like you wish but are no more. Rise with a high spirit and give thanks to the Almighty God for his kindness and love.
It is no doubt that all praise is due to Almighty God for His blessings over us because he has just given us opportunity to make a list of resolution to be accomplished this 2008.
I carried out a research amongst youths who are between ages 17 22, particularly those in S.S.S. 3 and the immediate secondary school leavers to ascertain their level of preparedness for the year 2008 as to what are the objectives to be fulfilled in this New Year 2008.
The response I got was so pathetic, because many of them don't even know what they want and what is good for them, also they cannot even determine their own future.
Its high time the youths stand up to the challenges of identifying what their future would look like and plan towards a brighter future.
There is need for every individual to have set goal(s) he/she intends to accomplish for a specific period. Goals need to be set to ascertained and how the individual intends to go about it, because many people want to be great and desired great things but lack the facts and steps about being great and how to accomplish it.
Successful people in life set goals and they create a plan to achieve them. They realize that they have to focus on where they want to go first, then manage their time, money and efforts towards actions that take them closer to realizing their goals. They are able to better prioritize their daily activities, weeding out the things that don't bring them closer to fulfilling their dreams. It's a great habit to have and truly vital if you are going to learn to focus on what's truly important in your life.
Achieving your goals will require some sacrifice on your part and some of your precious time. Our goals help shape our decisions regarding what our course of action will be, because our goals are the guideposts in our lives.
The youths should show genuine concern about peoples welfare and write out their action plan (resolution), also for the youths to get the desired goals (resolution) there is need for the following 10 P's which are as follows:
1. People2. Prepare and Plan3. Pen and Paper (Your Goals)4. Prayer5. Patience6. Protect your health7. Perseverance8. Positive Thinking (Think Big)9. Provide Quality (Do things at its Best)10. Pretend as if you have achieved your goal.
Goals have the power to motivate because those big dreams of yours are what is going to keep you motivated to make those everyday sacrifices in order to make those dream of tomorrow a reality. The goals you set for yourself today are the heart of your future. It is the fuel for your daily action.

After all, the whole point of having a blog online is so you can share your thought and insights with like-minded people and communicate about them.
So what is it that makes a blog fail? Several things do but here are 7.
1) Not having a goal for blogging.Before you start a blog, ask yourself, what do I want to achieve with this blog? I believe answering that question objectively will assist you stay on focus.
2)Content isn’t updated regularly - with a blog you need to post at least once a week to keep the search engines interested and sending you traffic.I make posts almost on a daily basis and if you must succeed as a blogger,you need to update your blog frequently.
3) The content isn’t targeted - if your content isn’t targeted and is too broad, no one will read your content; stay on your blog or return. How wrong I was.Successful blogging involves time, effort, and reaching out to fellow bloggers / publishers / authors (whatever you prefer). You can find articles on getting readers to your blog right on this blog.
7)Underestimating the time commitment.Blogging is not for lazy people,it is for people who are serious about making a living online,so,don’t underestimate the time commitment.It requires time to research your articles,write them and publish them.
